In a different world, today, Sunday, January 22, would have—should have—marked the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the decision that provided federal protections for abortion access.

But instead of reflecting on the progress made in improving reproductive well-being for people over the last half-century, we are again fighting for the right to access abortion care. Sadly, we may soon also face more concerted attacks on access to birth control. The new abnormal for abortion as well as reproductive well-being more broadly can be described in only one word: chaos

New interactive maps from Power to Decide’s Abortion Finder provide a compelling illustration of the terrible new chapter for abortion access that’s unfolded over the past year. These new maps show the number of in-person providers offering abortion and the latest gestational age that abortion has been available in each state from the end of April through the end of 2022.

People seeking abortion care should have access to the health care they need when they need it. Abortion care is every bit as necessary as it was before Dobbs, or Roe, or at any point in history. It is essential, time-sensitive care that protects people’s health, their families and their lives.

Please, help us spread the word about Abortion Finder, and in honor of Roe, would you consider making a gift to Power to Decide so we can continue to connect people with information and access to care as quickly ad seamlessly as possible?
