Today marks what would have been the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the landmark law that protected each and every individual’s right to abortion. An overwhelming majority of Americans wanted to see Roe remain intact but SCOTUS ignored five decades of precedent and overturned the historic ruling anyway.

SCOTUS’ devastating ruling opened the door for extremist legislators across the country to attack reproductive rights. Now, less than a year since Roe fell — 13 states have active abortion bans on the books.

The good news is that there are ways to protect our reproductive rights. The November midterms proved in 5 red, blue, and purple states that using ballot measures is the best way to restore our reproductive rights for good .

These victories taught us two critical things: 1) The fight to protect abortion rights has made its way to the states, and 2) Restoring our right to abortion access is only possible if we ALL stand together.
