According to some reports, Veterans have been the consistent target of online disinformation campaigns for more than a decade now.

They’re targets of foreign governments — and increasingly of the far-right.

They’ll infiltrate conversations among Veterans about mental health or returning to civilian life after active duty tours and prey on those Veterans with nonsense about kneeling during the National Anthem and other divisive topics.

Their aim is to send those Veterans down a digital rabbit hole that pushes them toward the far-right actors like Trump who prey on people susceptible to rhetoric about various “culture wars.”

They do it because Veteran voices are respected and trusted in their families and communities.

But too often, the result is alienation from families and friends and they are more and more enamored with wild conspiracies.

And at the extreme end, the result is a disproportionate number of Veterans part of the insurrection on January 6th.

One of our jobs at VoteVets is to build a program that connects Veterans with Veterans to fight those disinformation campaigns. To show them what is happening. To help them before they’re lost.

But that takes resources. It takes staff. It takes significant volunteer management. None of which we can do without you.

This is an important campaign. Which is why we’re asking:

Can you please contribute $5, $10 or whatever you can afford today to help VoteVets’ work connecting Veterans with Veterans to fight back against far-right disinformation campaigns? Thank you.
