State Toth Rewrites Legislative History; Patrick Fights Back

With the 88th Session of the Texas Legislature only days old, a war of words broke out between the two chambers. It started with State Rep. Steve Toth (R-The Woodlands) telling constituents – falsely – that Patrick and the Senate bore blame for lawmakers killing legislation that would ban gender mutilation surgery on minors. Toth apparently did not know he was being recorded. Lt. Gov. fought back, calling Toth's allegations "blatantly false" – and back it up with the official records of both chambers.

Quoting...

"Rep. Toth has a reputation for blaming others to cover up his own shortcomings on getting his bills passed. He pulled the same stunt last session by blaming the Senate and others for his failure to pass his critical race theory bill. In the end, it was the Senate that saved and finally passed that legislation. Rep. Toth’s baseless allegations and misplaced blame have cost him any shred of credibility."

- Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick
