Hey Comrade!
Akron DSA has a busy week coming up, and we'd love for you to join us!
On Tuesday, January 24th we are kicking off our Reimagining Public Safety campaign at the Firestone Park library at 6 p.m. The topic of discussion is police alternatives. Food will be served, and space is limited, so please sign up here to help us plan accordingly.
Also on Tuesday the 24th, we will be standing in solidarity and remembrance with comrades across the country fighting to preserve our natural spaces at a vigil for Tort, who was murdered by Atlanta Police on January 18 while defending the Atlanta Weelaunee forest. The event will be at People's Park beginning at 5:30 p.m. (760 Elma Street in North Hill).
Wednesday, January 25th is our monthly general meeting. We will meet at the main library branch downtown at 6 p.m., and we will hold elections for new officers at that time. All members in good standing are entitled to vote. You can park in the deck attached to the library and receive a discount for parking, or street parking is free after 6 p.m. A virtual option is also available; sign up here to join us by Zoom.
In solidarity,
Akron DSA
