National Migration Week 2020 - Thank You!

Justice for Immigrants Colleagues,
All the staff at USCCB/Migration and Refugee Services want to take a moment to thank
everyone who participated in last week's National Migration Week (NMW)! Based on
the feedback we received from dioceses, parishes and religious communities across
the country, the NMW 2020 celebration was a great success. All of your work in this
regard amplified the Church's ability to express its teachings on the migration
issue and call Catholics and others of good will to a better understanding and appreciation
of this issue.
Although the following is far from an exhaustive list of activities and events that
took place last week, we do want to highlight some of the activities and creative
efforts that occurred in celebration of National Migration Week:

* There was a National Migration Week Mass [[link removed]]
at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago that was officiated by Auxiliary Bishop Mark Bartosic.

* Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City, Kansas recorded a podcast [[link removed]]
with a Dreamer in order to present a human voice to the immigration debate.

* Community members of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary held a
National Migration Week prayer [[link removed]]
at their Motherhouse Chapel in Dubuque, Iowa.

* On Jan. 11, 2020 at Most Holy Trinity Parish in Detroit, a lay-led Catholic advocacy
group for immigrant and refugee rights, Strangers No Longer, began a three-month
campaign [[link removed]]
of prayer, fasting and action to draw attention to the plight of families fleeing
violence in Central America and looking for a welcoming home in the U.S.

* St. James Cathedral in the Archdiocese of Seattle had a workshop [[link removed]]
for the parishioners that was focused on holding space, being present, and centering
the stories of immigrants.
Working together we can both promote and build a Church and a world for all! Thank
you again for all your hard work on this issue, both during National Migration Week
and throughout the year.
In Solidarity,
Todd Scribner and Tony Cube
