John,

On Thursday, State Rep. Sara Innamorato and I released our report with the
American Economic Liberties Project detailing how the University of
Pittsburgh Medical Center's (UPMC) monopoly over our healthcare system is
harming both hospital workers and patients.

Currently, UPMC controls the healthcare system in Western Pennsylvania
operating 40 hospitals. The effect? 90% of Pittsburgh hospital workers
reported that their units don't have the staff to keep up with their
workload — pushing workers to their limits and endangering patients.

Here's the truth: UPMC's monopoly powers have gone too far. It's why our
nurses and our health aides are struggling to bargain for dignified wages
and safer conditions. It's why our doctors are trapped by non-compete
contracts. And it's why everyday Pennsylvanians are being ripped off by
soaring healthcare costs and cheated out of their tax dollars.

I ran for Congress to take on the billionaire CEOs, union-busters, and
price gougers who are keeping our families sick and in debt. [ [link removed] ]If you're

We can’t call Pittsburgh a union town until we get the largest employer
here to ensure that every single one of its workers has safe working
conditions and a livable wage.

It's time we stand up for our hospital workers and our patients — and not
just with bells and applause as they come out of their shifts.

As PA-12's Congresswoman, I'm committed to using every tool to hold UPMC
accountable. [ [link removed] ]John,
will you donate $5 today
to fund our work to deliver power for every worker?

The future of our labor movement is strong, but only if we keep up the
fight for the long haul.

Because when we fight, we win.
