Congresswoman Lesko Weekly Update

Good Afternoon,

I hope everyone had a great week! It has been another busy week in Arizona's 8th Congressional District. If you would like to share this newsletter with others, please direct them to this link and encourage them to subscribe.

Lesko Tours TSMC

I toured the site for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company! This facility is crucial to strengthening the U.S-Taiwan relationship and increasing our domestic chip manufacturing. I'm proud to have Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company in our district, and I look forward to their continued expansion!

I want to make sure you don't miss a minute of what I’m doing to fight for Arizonans each and every day. Check out my latest interviews below.

The Todd Starnes Show

I joined Todd Starnes to discuss our wide-open southern border, the hypocrisy around President Biden’s classified documents scandal, and defending unborn babies’ right to life against House Democrats’ radical abortion agenda. Listen below:

House Republicans Stand for Life

As your representative, I will always be a voice for the most vulnerable among us. Just this month, House Republicans delivered on our commitment to defend life by passing the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. The American people overwhelmingly believe babies who are born alive should be protected. The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act requires that health care practitioners who are present after an attempted abortion take action to preserve the life and health of the child born alive. After those efforts, the health care workers must transport and admit the child to a hospital. Providing lifesaving medical care to babies who survive abortions should not be a partisan issue, yet only one Democrat in the U.S. House voted in favor of this legislation, while every House Republican supported this bill. It is unconscionable that 210 of my House Democrat colleagues voted against this bill. Why would anyone want a baby to be left for dead that was born alive?

GET THE FACTS: President Biden's Historic Crime Crisis

Since President Biden took office two years ago, Democrats' soft-on-crime agenda has empowered criminals to roam our communities without fear of prosecution. Consequently, homicide and aggravated assault rates are on the rise in urban communities. Meanwhile, Biden's Department of Justice's December report celebrated federal arrests decreasing by 35% even with crime rates skyrocketing. This soft-on-crime approach has fatal consequences for law enforcement officers. In 2022, 331 officers were shot in the line of duty, while 62 were killed by gunfire. There were also 89 ambush-style attacks on law enforcement officers. Democrat leaders' failure to enforce the rule of law jeopardizes not only the safety of our communities, but also our brave law enforcement officers. House Republicans are well aware of Democrats' failure to keep Americans safe. We are committed to upholding the rule of law and supporting our law enforcement officers to restore safety in our communities.

Around the District

Austin from our office presented the Sun City West Foundation with a Congressional Recognition. The Sun City West Foundation works hard to give back to Arizonans and support local organizations that benefit the Sun City West, AZ community. We are grateful for your service!

Casework Highlight

A constituent contacted our office in need of an emergency passport appointment. Although the constituent submitted her renewal application in November 2022, she had not received the passport and had an upcoming international trip in just a few days.  Our casework team contacted the State Department and successfully scheduled an emergency appointment that resulted in her receiving the passport in time for her travel.
