Friends,
The Orange County Young Democrats are hosting our annual Obama Awards fundraiser on Friday, February 17th at 7pm. The money raised will help us in our mission to directly uplift young activists and promote the voices of young people in our communities. In 2021, we raised over $9,000 that allowed us to invest in the campaigns of Young People’s Platform candidates such as Anaheim Union HSD Trustee Jessica Guerrero, Irvine City Councilwoman Kathleen Treseder, Costa Mesa City Councilmembers Arlis Reynolds and Manuel Chavez & more. We need your help to surpass this number in anticipation of 2024, and expand our organizing efforts to have a greater impact on critical races around the county.
As demonstrated in the 2022 Midterms, young people show up. Approximately 27% of voters between the ages of 18-29 voted in the 2022 midterm election, making it the second highest voter turnout amongst young voters, trailing the 2018 midterms. Despite being counted out and disregarded, young people still showed up across the board. In 2024, we won’t just show up at the ballot box. We will run, and we will win.
We need your help to continue this momentum and uplift more young people than ever to be in positions of power. Our Obama Awards will be held at the Norma Hertzog Community Center on Friday, February 17th at 7pm! You can purchase a ticket or make a donation here.
*Note: If you purchased a ticket before our rescheduling, it will be valid for this event!
In solidarity,
