Friend,

I’m Tamar, Alex’s new Finance Director, and I’m so excited to officially join the Morse Force! My family lives in Western Mass, and I came on board because I think we deserve a representative in Congress who cares more about us than corporations and wealthy donors. Together we are going to build a new future for the First District—here’s how we start:

Tuesday marks the tenth anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United vs. FEC ruling, which paved the way for super PACs to spend unlimited amounts of money in our elections to benefit corporations at the expense of everyday people.

The decision also paved the way for corporate money to have an outsized influence on regular campaign contributions—including the campaigns of Congressman Neal, who’s cashed huge corporate checks in order to climb the ladder of power and privilege in D.C. while outcomes stagnate in the First District.

The status quo is not just. It’s not right. And it’s why we’re running this campaign to take our democracy back, exclusively with the help of grassroots supporters like you. Before Tuesday’s anniversary, we’ve set a goal of raising $10,000 to prove that grassroots power can and will overcome corporate influence in our politics. Will you help us send that message by chipping in today?

Team, this Supreme Court ruling has been one of the single most destructive forces in our modern politics. That’s why one of Alex’s earliest acts in this campaign was to sign the End Citizens United pledge, where he promised to reject all corporate PAC contributions—and followed it up with the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge, which swears off all support from the fossil fuel industry.

Alex’s leadership is what we need here in Western Mass, because when he’s in Congress, he’ll be working only for us—unlike Congressman Neal, who looks the other way on prescription drug prices because Big Pharma has his back, who’s thrown a literal birthday party for a corporation (AIG) that led us into recession, and who toes the line for his fossil fuel donors even as the climate crisis reaches a point of no return.

Citizens United may have auctioned off our political system to the highest corporate bidders—but the hope of transforming that system starts with electing leaders like Alex, who’ll always choose the people they represent over special interests.

It’s on, team. Will you chip in now to help us reach our goal of $10,000 by Tuesday and send a message that people-powered politics are a force to be reckoned with?
