John,

Wednesday's inauguration was a moment in time in which we, as a state, respectfully honored the will of the people and embraced a collective vision for the future.

It is a human moment in which we as Marylanders all shared — the peaceful transition of power, a hallmark of our democracy. And our opportunity to ensure our prosperity is shared and collectively earned.

No matter our differences, what we share is far greater — we share Maryland. We share a place to call home, a place I know each and every one of us care deeply about. And a place whose potential is endless if we all work towards that future collectively.

At Wednesday's swearing in, we celebrated this magnificent state. Its past, its present, and its future.

The Lieutenant Governor and I, as well as our families, could not be more humbled to be here with each and every one of you.

We also mark this day with remembrance of who we are as a people and how far we have traveled. Wednesday’s celebration would not have been possible without the generations of Marylanders before us who fought for justice and equality. Their bravery blazed a trail leading us to this historic moment.

As we embark together on our state’s next chapter, we commit to our shared mission to leave no one behind. Thank you, Maryland.

Let's get to work.

Elevate,

Wes Moore
