Friends,

Since I first launched this campaign, I ran on the promise of fighting for working families.

And I wouldn't be fulfilling my promise to you if I didn't also fight for the foundation of those families -- working mothers. And for that reason, I wanted to relay an important update to you on the matter.

Yesterday, I was proud to support a bipartisan proposal that secures strong, transparent protections for pregnant workers.

The proposal, which passed the House Education and Labor committee, guarantees accommodations to pregnant workers such as extra breaks, proper seating, relief from heavy lifting, and more.

These protections might seem like a given in 2020 - yet pregnant employees around the country still face discrimination which puts the health of both mother and child at risk.

As a working mother myself, I can tell you firsthand how critical this legislation is to making sure we support pregnant workers and ensure they can maintain both a healthy work environment and pregnancy. No one should have to choose between earning a paycheck or risking their health.

I'm looking forward to keeping you in the loop as it moves to the House floor or as more updates on this matter come to light!

Appreciate your support on this,

Lori
