John, it’s now exactly 3 months until 100,000 people gather at the Houses of Parliament for the start of the biggest climate protest the UK has ever seen. We wanted to make sure you know everything you need about the event, and ask if you’ll sign up to be there?
This is going to be very different to Extinction Rebellion’s usual actions. If enough people turn up and focus on Parliament, not the public, we can leave behind the tactics most likely to lead to arrest. Instead, we’re aiming to create the most accessible and inclusive action yet - something people from all walks of life feel able to take part in.
Nearly 10,000 people have already said they’ll be there. John, will you be there too and help make history?

Our corrupt government isn’t taking the impacts of climate change seriously. In the last year alone we’ve seen heatwaves, wildfires and floods devastate communities, putting people’s health, and even their lives, at risk. That’s why we need to put on a protest that finally forces our politicians to act.
We have a clear plan that we know can work. We’ve looked at loads of examples where the sheer weight of numbers has been the factor that’s won out. At the fall of the Berlin Wall, for example, hundreds of thousands of people gathered peacefully and refused to move. Just 5 days after the protest started, the wall came down.
So we’re taking a similar approach. We want at least 100,000 people to join together outside Parliament, and for those that can to stay for as long as possible. This will be historic.

Make sure you’re signed up, so we can send you updates about the event between now and April, as they develop. We’ll make sure you know everything you need to before then, such as what time to be there or what you might want to bring with you.
For now, the most important thing is to sign up and clear your diary so you can be there for the start of this historic event.
Love and rage,
Extinction Rebellion UK
P.S Can’t make it to the event itself? You can still get involved by volunteering your time, or donating to help make the event a success.
