WHAT J6 IS AND NEVER WAS

[Victor Davis Hanson quote]

On this second anniversary, Joe Biden and his ilk will once again

divide us with demagoguery.

POLITICS

[[link removed]]

/ DOUGLAS ANDREWS / JANUARY 6, 2023

Today marks the second anniversary

[[link removed]] of

the January 6

[[link removed]] “insurrection,”

which means Joe Biden will dutifully and shamefully remind us for the

zillionth time just how godawful that day was, and just how perilously

close we came to “losing our democracy” to an utterly disorganized

mob of mostly middle-aged white guys with flag poles.

It’s a Republic, but whatever.

Indeed, the utter inability unwillingness of Biden and his fellow

Democrats to let that sad day slip off into history calls to mind the

trial lawyer who can’t pound the facts and can’t pound the law and

is therefore left to pound only the table. Nancy Pelosi

[[link removed]] became

a consummate table-pounder during her histrionic J6 inquisition

[[link removed]] this

past year.

In accordance with Biden’s duties as demagogue-in-chief, he will

thus award

[[link removed]] the

Presidential Citizens Medal “to a dozen election workers, officials,

and law enforcement officers for ‘contributions to our democracy’

before and during the riot,” according to a White House official.

Not only that. As Politico reports

[[link removed]],

“Biden will use Friday’s address to again put center stage the

danger and chaos posed by election deniers even as the November

elections in which many of them lost their races for office begin to

fade from view.” In addition, President Unitus will uphold his

Inauguration Day promise to unify the nation by again linking

Republicans “to the extremists who attempted to forcibly overturn

the results of Donald Trump’s defeat.”

At the same time, we suspect Scranton Joe will avoid any mention of

the more serious matters that really _do_ threaten

our democracy Republic — matters that historian, classicist, and

Central Valley farmer Victor Davis Hanson reminds us of in a grimly

thoughtful column

[[link removed]] called

“The Coup We Never Knew.” Regarding the war on our immigration

laws and the war on Election Day, he writes:

What happened to the U.S. border? Where did it go? Who erased it? Why

and how did 5 million people enter our country illegally? Did Congress

secretly repeal our immigration laws? …

Since when did the people decide that 70 percent of voters would not

cast their ballots on Election Day? Was this revolutionary change the

subject of a national debate, a heated congressional session, or the

votes of dozens of state legislatures?

Hanson also hits the war on national solvency, the war on fossil

fuels, the war on gender, the war on racial equality, the war on our

military, the war on equal justice under the law, the war on law

enforcement, and more. None of these counts as a coup in the

traditional sense, but all of them count as such in the sense of a

sustained and multipronged leftist assault on our Republic.

As for January 6, columnist Julie Kelly reminds us of the grotesque

government overreach that continues to this day. The prosecutorial

toll is staggering, but the recent arrests of a Washington state

couple, Scott and Holly Christensen, are particularly outrageous.

Kelly writes

[[link removed]]:

What exactly did these alleged “domestic terrorists” do? They

entered the Capitol through open doors as police officers stood by.

Carrying no weapons, the couple took photos inside the Rotunda and

wandered through some hallways; surveillance video shows Holly

Christensen talking to a Capitol police officer. At another point,

Scott Christensen chatted with a D.C. Metro police officer, a

conversation captured on a body-worn camera. Police led the pair

toward an exit door about 45 minutes later without arresting them.

For these non-grievous non-offenses, this couple will now have their

lives destroyed by Merrick Garland’s Department of Justice and by

the mainstream media.

Doesn’t the Biden administration have anything better to do?

“Our work is far from over,” AG Garland said, bragging about how

the work of his apparatchiks “continues to move forward at an

unprecedented speed and scale” to mete out “justice” for an

assault that leftist propagandists have shamefully likened to Pearl

Harbor, the Oklahoma City bombing, and 9/11.

“It’s a feat of political sorcery,” Kelly writes, “fueled by

lies, cover-ups, and careerism, not entirely unlike the first war on

terror — to transform an unruly, four-hour protest into an act of

domestic terror.”

Likewise, the efforts of the Biden administration to keep J6 alive and

to turn it into something it never was is a feat of poisonous

political demagoguery.

It needs to be said.
