Give Now to Protect America's Earned Benefits

Dear John,

Last week, U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz (FL-01) — one of the most vocal proponents for using the upcoming debt ceiling debate to exact serious cuts from Social Security and Medicare — appeared on CNN and made no bones about his plans for your earned benefits:

Part of fighting attacks on seniors’ earned benefits is informing lawmakers like Representative Gaetz about how important Social Security and Medicare are to their constituents — and how any cuts would destroy seniors’ financial security.

That’s why the National Committee is working to get out facts like these:

  • Social Security and Medicare Part A are self-funded by workers’ payroll contributions and did not cause today’s deficits;

  • Decades of unfair tax policies benefiting wealthy Americans and huge corporations are a major cause of historic budget deficits;

  • For nearly 1 in 5 retirees, Social Security is their only source of income; and

  • Without Social Security, nearly half of the elderly would live in poverty.

It’s clear that too many politicians now serving in Washington don’t understand the needs of workers and retirees — or they simply don’t care.

That’s why the National Committee is working to inform U.S. Representative Gaetz — and all members of Congress, the media and the public — that America’s seniors know the truth: The only crisis facing Social Security and Medicare are individuals who want to cut, privatize and destroy these programs!

Please chip in a supporting gift today of $10 or $5 to support the National Committee’s full-scale battle to stop right-wing politicians from slashing your retirement security while they keep cutting taxes for the wealthy.

Sincerely,

Max Richtman
President & CEO
