The Week in Review

Happy Friday!

I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 118th Congress. This week marked the first week of recess for the 118th Congress but I was still working hard to advance your interests. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.

Meeting with the Chandler Chamber of Commerce

This morning, I provided an update on what my office is working on at the Chandler Chamber of Commerce. From studying the impacts of our nation yet again reaching the debt limit, to addressing the water shortage in the Southwest, to ending Biden’s border crisis, my team is hard at work on the pressing issues facing our nation. It was a pleasure to visit with so many business owners, state legislators, and community leaders.

I am very appreciative of their invitation. I look forward to working with the Chamber in the 118th Congress and improving conditions for Arizonans.

Queen Creek Councilmember Inauguration

On Wednesday, I attended the Town of Queen Creek’s Swearing-In Ceremony of its new councilmembers. I also performed the swearing-in for Queen Creek Council candidate Travis Padilla.

I’d like to congratulate Travis, Julia Wheatley, Bryan McClure, and Dawn Oliphant and look forward to working with them all in the 118th Congress.

Bicameral Effort to Conduct Oversight on Immigration Parole Abuse

On Wednesday, myself and Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH), along with 35 Members of Congress, sent a bicameral letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas demanding answers on the department’s unilateral expansion of immigration parole to more than 30,000 illegal aliens monthly from Cuba, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Venezuela.

Parole grants an individual, in limited circumstances, temporary permissive entry into the United States and shall be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, not a country-by-country basis. This is just the latest example of the Biden Administration’s major, unilateral changes to immigration policy that have culminated in the historic crisis at the southern border.

Secretary Mayorkas testified under oath that parole is ‘judged on an individualized case-by-case basis’ but I have seen no evidence to support this claim. Instead, his department is abusing the parole authority to mass-release hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens into the country. The department’s latest announcement reveals that it will continue to proceed and even accelerate this abuse as parole grants will increase by 33% from just last month.

It’s unclear where the department derives legal authority to parole groups of this size and how this policy change enhances border security. As usual, the department has some explaining to do and I’m grateful for Senator Vance’s partnership in this effort.

The bicameral letter may be read here.

Reintroduction of Bills That Address COVID Overreach on Americans

As the Biden Administration continues to argue to keep tyrannical mask mandates on public transportation, I’ve reintroduced a group of bills that address the COVID-related overreach on the American public. From prohibiting mask mandates on public transportation to lifting COVID vaccine mandates for select groups, my legislation helps better protect Americans from draconian and anti-science requirements imposed by unelected bureaucrats.

Now with a Republican majority in the House, we have a better opportunity to pass legislation that reverses COVID vaccine and mask mandate policies set by fanatics who seek to maintain control over Americans.

These power-hungry individuals are rejecting science. COVID cases and deaths remain low. Normal life has returned.

Most importantly, individuals should be making their own COVID and healthcare choices—not tyrannical government officials.

All types of COVID-related mandates have got to go and these pieces of legislation help us get there.

Below are my pieces of legislation reintroduced that relate to COVID:

-H.R. 125 Travel Mask Mandate Repeal Act of 2023 may be viewed here.

-H.R. 118 No Vaccine Passports Act may be viewed here.

-H.R. 119 The Freedom from Mandates Act may be viewed here.

-H.R. 117 To prohibit any entity that receives Federal funds from the COVID relief packages from mandating employees receive a COVID-19 vaccine, and for other purposes may be viewed here.

-H.R. 103 To prohibit the Secretary of Transportation, acting through the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, from setting a requirement that air carriers and foreign air carriers must require an individual to test negative for COVID–19 to travel in air transportation on an air carrier, and for other purposes may be viewed here.

Tri-city (Chandler, Gilbert, Queen Creek) Economic Development Briefing

This week, my office attended a Tri-city economic development briefing to address water, transportation, and education challenges facing our municipalities and companies that are trying to grow or relocate in the region.

It was a great opportunity to hear from large and small business owners and community leaders, and I am doing everything that I can in Congress to reduce the federal obstacles that are in the way of our cities’ economic growth.

My America First Contract

House Republicans will need to immediately reverse the Democrats’s disastrous policies to get our country back in good shape.

My America First Contract is an outline to reduce inflation and strengthen the economy, secure our border, restore transparency and parental choice in education, reduce violent crime and preserve the rule of law, restore election integrity, break up Big Tech, put America First in foreign, energy, and trade policies, and reinstate good government practices.

In addition to achieving these eight goals, the plan calls on conducting enhanced oversight and using available leverages to stop the abuse of power from President Biden in 2023. I will introduce legislation supporting each area of the plan within the first 100 days of the next Congressional term and will work with my colleagues to bring that legislation up for consideration in the House.

The full contract may be read here

Alien Invasion Border Documentary

Check out my new border documentary titled Alien Invasion. The 30-minute documentary features footage from private ranches along the border, the Darien Gap in Panama, and interviews with members of Congress, Border Patrol, local and state law enforcement, and much more. It addresses how President Biden’s border crisis began, its consequences, and solutions to address the crisis.

Definition of the Week

This week, global elites and some representatives from the United States attended the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. Americans including former CNN anchor Brian Stelter, Rep. Maria Salazar (R-FL), FBI Director Christopher Wray, attended the week-long summit.

Instead of advocating for American interests on the global stage, representatives from our country advocated for globalist issues ranging from mass amnesty to censorship of free thought.

It was a missed opportunity, to say the least.

Inspired by the summit, here is the definition of the week:

World Economic Forum (WEF): A global retreat that continues to put America last.
