Governor Josh Green ordered the U.S. flag and the Hawai‘i state flag be flown at half-staff at the Hawaii State Capitol and at all state offices to honor the late Ron Menor, veteran State and City legislator, who died unexpectedly Monday after a medical emergency.
“Ron was a dedicated public servant, winning re-election after re-election for many years, showing how much his constituents appreciated his work on their behalf. Jaime and I send our love and condolences to Patty and her ʻohana and know that the community Ron served for so many years, is also in mourning.”

Governor Green also announced the return of more than 363 acres of leased land in Hoʻolehua and Pālāʻau, Moloka‘i back to the State of Hawai‘i, Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL).
“This day is long overdue for the beneficiaries and residents of Moloka‘i. We are honored to accept the return of these lands on behalf of our Native Hawaiian beneficiaries. Our commitment to ensuring Native Hawaiians can continue to build their capacity through access to more land remains steadfast in this administration.”

Governor Green signed a sixth emergency proclamation to extend federal funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) emergency allotment benefits, in keeping with ongoing federal COVID relief efforts.
“Hawai‘i’s families are heavily burdened by economic impacts of the pandemic as well as inflation and these additional SNAP benefits ensure access to nutritious food.”
