Continuing the Fight to Uplift Our Families

As we begin a new Congress, my focus remains the same: delivering results for our community. On Tuesday, I spoke with members of our local media to outline my priorities for the year ahead: lowering costs and strengthening quality of life for our families, growing our local economy, and protecting public safety.

This Congress also brings with it new opportunities to collaborate with my partners on the other side of the aisle in a bipartisan way. I am hopeful that over the coming months, my colleagues and I can work in earnest to bring people together, search for compromise, and find common ground that allows us to take action on the issues most important to Rochester families. I look forward to the work that lies ahead!

Supporting Our Workforce

Rep. Morelle speaks at an announcement at GM in Rochester

This morning, I joined with my colleagues in government and community partners to celebrate the announcement of a new $68 million investment in the Rochester General Motors (GM) facility. The Rochester facility will be helping spearhead GM’s transition to an all-electric future, saving more than 700 local jobs in process.

I’m grateful to GM for their longstanding support and faith in our community, and I look forward to future opportunities to continue growing our specialized workforce and leading the way in the technologies of tomorrow.

Growing the Future of Our Economy

Rep. Morelle announces federal dollars for MCC

On Thursday, I was joined by County Executive Adam Bello and Monroe Community College President Burt-Nanna to announce over $3.5 million in federal funding I helped secure to expand MCC's Applied Technologies Center (ATC). This funding will bolster ATC's existing hands-on programming in fields like automotive technologies, heating ventilation and air conditioning, and precision machining—better preparing workers with the skills and resources they need to succeed in the workforce and meet the demands of our local manufacturers.

This project gets to the heart of the fundamental goal we all share: strengthening the future of our community and creating opportunities for the families who call it home.

Out-and-About in Our Community

Whether it’s advocating for better healthcare for our families or ensuring kids of all ages have a safe place to learn and play, we are incredibly lucky to have so many local organizations doing meaningful work in our community. Throughout the week, I was grateful for the chance to meet with many of them and learn about how I can continue to support their work:

Rep. Morelle meets with the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester

It is always a pleasure to meet with the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester to continue our efforts to support those facing a breast cancer diagnosis. Together, we can make screening, prevention, and treatment services more accessible for those who need it most. Thank you for all you do for our community!

Rep. Morelle visits the Strong Museum of Play

The Strong Museum of Play is a one-of-a-kind resource for our community, and I was grateful for the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes tour of their exciting new renovations. I cannot wait to bring my grandchildren to visit once they are finished.

I enjoyed the opportunity to visit EquiCenter and learn about their critical work to uplift individuals with disabilities, veterans, and young people in our community. I'm proud to work alongside them to ensure everyone has the tools and resources they need to thrive.

One of my top priorities is making high-quality education accessible for every child—and local organizations like EnCompass are essential to reaching that goal. It was great to meet with their dedicated team, and I’m proud to continue working together to strengthen learning resources for all families.
