There’s nothing as rewarding as delivering good policy that serves the American people, John. Nothing.
But when we can make a Trump appointee and GOP megadonor eat his words in the process, I’ll admit it, that does make it just a little bit sweeter.
I’m proud to say that thanks to the $3 billion we provided to the U.S. Postal Service in the Inflation Reduction Act, there will be 66,000 electric mail trucks hitting the streets across the country.
Reversing course from Trump’s handpicked Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s pledge for a 90 percent gas-powered fleet.
But this goes beyond fossil fuels vs. electric vehicles.
It’s about whether DeJoy, the former finance chair of the Republican National Committee — who was investigated by the FBI for a campaign finance scheme — can impartially lead the Postal Service in the midst of a presidential election in which the man who appointed him is running against the current president.
After DeJoy decommissioned mail sorting machines, removed absentee ballot drop boxes, and impeded voting by mail in 2020, I don’t trust him. I don’t think the American people should either.
John, add your name to my petition calling on the USPS Board of Governors to remove Trump’s handpicked Postmaster General Louis DeJoy. The board should permit President Biden to select a replacement that will work with the administration to improve the Postal Service for the American people.
It’s simple. Louis DeJoy has to go. Thanks for raising your voice with me today.
