Hi John, For decades, Republicans have been organizing from the ground up to take away our rights. As a national movement, they've been strategic in rallying around local races that have devastating effects on schools, homes, income inequality, bodily autonomy, and the environment. In order to fight back, our campaign needs national crowd-sourced fundraising to win our election. Most local, Democratic campaigns don't get the resources necessary to truly organize. So, what can the Philadelphia City Controller do for you? We are facing an unmitigated climate catastrophe all over the globe. We need to rapidly take steps to fight climate change, but as we saw just the other week, Congress is gridlocked in a power struggle that has nothing to do with what is best for everyday people. If the federal government is failing to answer our calls for action and help, then state and local governments need to step in quickly. The City of Philadelphia is currently invested in polluters. The City Controller can make sure Philly's government is investing its financial assets aligned with our values and in ways that aren't going to facilitate the destruction of our planet. Chicago divested from fossil fuels just a few years ago and even saw a return on their investment in green energy. As a country, we need other major cities to divest from fossil fuels as well if the federal government will not take the action we need to protect us from the climate crisis. Republicans are attacking us on all levels and we need to fight back.
