We’re in the first month of the new Congress, and already, the differences between Republican and Democratic leadership of the House are stark.

Not surprisingly, though sadly, the House GOP has done a 180-degree pivot from the priorities and policies we put forward last Congress – historic investments in our infrastructure, in the fight against climate change, and in our children, to name a few.

Instead, the first order of business for my colleagues across the aisle is to make life harder for millions of Americans:

1. Abolishing the IRS – to help corporations and the ultra-wealthy avoid their fair share of taxes

2. Passing anti-abortion measures – to remind women that, as far as they’re concerned, we’re not entitled to make our own personal, private healthcare decisions

The road to 2024 is long, but the contrast couldn’t be clearer – we must retake the House majority next year to address the needs of all Americans.
