Dallas, TX – On January 15th, we observed the one year anniversary of the heinous, anti-Semitic attack on our community in North Texas. It was heart wrenching to see such hate enter our peaceful community in Colleyville and threaten the lives of worshipers at the Congregation Beth Israel Synagogue. We must make stronger efforts in our country to combat the fervent antisemitism and hate wherever it exists. Earlier this month, we saw an outage of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Notice to Air Missions System (NOTAM). This outage caused the first nationwide ground stop of aircrafts since the September 11, 2001 attacks. The FAA’s failure to improve legacy systems is unacceptable, and the American people deserve and expect better. I joined my colleagues on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in voicing our serious concerns regarding the outage. In our letter to Secretary Buttigieg, we requested a written response detailing the specifics of the outage and his proposed course of action to resolve and effectively maintain these systems going forward. We have seen where wasteful government spending has gotten us: our national debt just passed $31 trillion and inflation is at a 41-year high. Hardworking Americans deserve better. That’s why I just reintroduced my bill, the Government Offices Realignment and Closure Act (GORAC), which will slash wasteful government spending and lower the national debt.
