John, Republicans have taken control of the House of Representatives, and they've already made their top priorities clear. The first legislation they've introduced isn't to lower costs of prescription medication, to make health care more accessible, or even to strengthen voting rights.
Instead, they're trying to make it easier for the wealthiest Americans to cheat on their taxes. The GOP has made it clear that it doesn't believe in fighting for working families or making everyone pay their fair share. They only care about helping their millionaire and billionaire megadonors skirt the law.
Thankfully, Democrats in the Senate have the votes to block this horrible legislation. But we won that majority by just a hair.
Now, as we head into a new election cycle, our majority hangs in the balance again. Republicans have shown us who they are, and we cannot let them retake power. Please, can I count on you to make a donation right now to help me defend our majority and stop the GOP's dangerous agenda?
This issue – making sure everyone pays their fair share – shouldn't be a partisan one. It just makes sense: The wealthiest Americans only gained that wealth because of the society and services that every one of us chips in to fund. No company would be successful without a strong public education system, government agencies that keep us all safe, and the roads that we rely on to transport goods and get to work.
But apparently Republicans don't believe in paying their fair share or investing in public programs that make life better for all of us.
That's why it's so important that we defend our Senate majority, so that we can keep on blocking the GOP's dangerous, backward legislation. But I can't do that without you. So please, will you chip in $5 tonight to invest in our Democratic majority and make sure we elect leaders who will fight for families – not corporate megadonors?

Thanks for standing with me,
Tom
