Last week, the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania REJECTED the
unconstitutional impeachment trial of Philadelphia District Attorney Larry
Krasner.

This is big news, John!!!

The Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania declared that DA Krasner’s reform
policies and ideas on criminal justice are not a basis for an impeachment
and that none of the Articles of Impeachment allege any conduct by Krasner
that constitutes what is required for impeachment and threw the trial out.

In other words: conservatives in Pennsylvania attempted to use the
impeachment process with bogus reasoning to remove a democratically
elected leader from office for political reasons — and the court saw right
through it.

If it isn’t clear how massive this ruling is, let us explain:

During last year’s midterm elections, conservative representatives lost
their majority in the State House, so with 5 weeks left in power they
rushed a vote to impeach DA Krasner.

From that moment, our Real Justice-backed DA was officially under attack,
and it was clear that these conservatives were using the same playbook
that was used against Chesa Boudin in San Francisco.

The entire push for the impeachment trial was based around false
allegations of misbehavior in office and blaming DA Krasner for gun
violence in the city — even though these same conservatives consistently
block actual action on gun control.

Those conservatives knew that this impeachment trial would go to the
Senate where Republicans have the majority and would have a higher chance
of removing him.

They wanted to roll back all of the life-changing work that DA Krasner has
done for the people of Philly.

Larry’s office has held over 50 police officers accountable for
misconduct, overturned dozens of wrongful convictions, stopped the
criminalization of mental health crises and substance use disorder, and
shifted resources to solve serious crimes in collaboration with city
partners, nonprofits and doctors.

Since DA Krasner took office, the amount of time people will spend in
prison has dropped by over 18,000 YEARS.

This is exactly why we have endorsed DA Krasner twice and why the people
of Philadelphia re-elected him with over 70% of the vote.

He is fighting for us. Yet conservatives are trying everything in their
power to stop his work and remove him from office. But luckily the
Commonwealth’s Court of PA took Larry’s side and stopped this power grab —
for now.

This is a huge win for DA Krasner, the people of Philadelphia and our
entire movement, but our work isn’t done, because unfortunately it was
only the reasoning that was ruled out, not the impeachment attempt itself.

That means these conservatives who don’t even live in Philly are already
working to come up with another bogus reason to try to impeach Larry again
so we have to be ready and make sure that everyone is properly informed.
