We hope you had a great week! Congressman Kim joined community members to celebrate Martin Luther King Day and reflect on his lasting legacy and impact. Around New Jersey this week, the Congressman and our office met with local businesses and looked ahead to the great work and opportunities ahead of us with community partners and neighbors.

Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

On Monday, Congressman Kim recognized Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for his legacy and lessons on the power of our collective voice, of hope, and peace over hate and division. The day is an important chance to reflect on the heroes who forged a path for civil rights in our nation and how we can build off of the foundation they created.

He was honored to join Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Epsilon Upsilon Omega Chapter at their 42nd MLK Scholarship Breakfast to celebrate the generations of leaders and youth inspired by Dr. King’s legacy.

Later in the day, the Congressman joined Friendship AME Church’s MLK Day Service and reflected on our continued duty to ensure equality and civil rights and allowing Dr. King’s vision of peace, hope, and unity to guide us forward.

Congressman Kim Visits Lincoln Tech

Last weekend, the Congressman toured Lincoln Technical Institute in Moorestown where they are training the next generation of industry professionals and leaders. Students thrive taking classes and hands-on skills programs in their desired fields.

Congressman Kim Visits Switlik Survival Products

On Tuesday, Congressman Kim toured Switlik Survival Products, a historic, family-owned, and New Jersey based business. For decades, Switlik has produced innovative parachutes and gear that puts safety first and provides servicemembers the safe tools they need. The visit included incredible anecdotes from the companies’ lengthy history and impact, including when Amelia Earhart performed the first public parachute jump from their Ocean County tower in 1935.

Direct Relief Coming to Mercer County Small Businesses

We were excited to share the great news that more relief will become available to Mercer County small businesses still hurting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The investment is thanks to the American Rescue Plan and will provide up to $500,000 in funds for impacted small businesses.

National Bagel Day a.k.a Jersey Bagel Day

We couldn’t let National Bagel Day go by without celebrating the best of the best, our Jersey bagels. On Sunday, we enjoyed properly honoring National Bagel Day as Jersey Bagel Day!

NEW: No-Cost Emergency Mental Healthcare for Veterans

We were excited to share Tuesday that the VA now offers no-cost emergency mental healthcare at the VA and non-VA healthcare facilities for our veterans. Congressman Kim fought to deliver veterans the comprehensive and affordable coverage they deserve and is proud this critical support will now be available at no-cost.

Open Enrollment and Medicare Enrollment Reminder!

You can enroll for your 2023 healthcare coverage via healthcare.gov. On the marketplace, you can review different plans and find an affordable option that works for you. In New Jersey, open enrollment goes until January 31st. You can get started at Get Covered NJ.
