Since I took my oath of office, we’ve seen a huge surge of bot accounts and right wing antagonists targeting my social media pages. Now, while most of the time it’s best to ignore them (don’t feed the trolls!), these accounts have been spreading viscous misinformation about my record and what I plan to prioritize in Congress.
If we don’t fight back, these trolls will dominate the narrative about me online. That’s why it’s critical that we get our digital operation back to full strength ASAP. A robust digital campaign was one of the keys to our success in last year’s midterms, but we left it all out on the field leading up to Election Day – and we need the help of our grassroots community to fund our digital operation from the ground up.
We’ve set a goal of raising $5,000 by midnight TONIGHT in order to fuel the work of our digital team as they fight to combat misinformation about my record, promote my legislative work in Congress, and keep my supporters informed about the most important developments facing our nation. Now that Becca has a bigger platform, the internet trolls are coming out of the woodwork 🙄.
Look, we know that these accounts are ridiculous, and only exist to tear down everything that Becca does. They aren’t worth a lot of our time or energy. But they do have the potential to reach hundreds of people online and spread misinformation about Becca, her track record, and her commitment to being an effective leader for Vermont.
So here’s our plan: We will keep running a campaign focused on courage and kindness – but we will run a robust digital campaign operation to promote Becca’s priorities, fact-check the trolls, and counteract their negative content with facts, news, and updates on Becca’s achievements in Washington.
