Smoke detector law

Starting January 1, a new Illinois law requires that home smoke alarms must be equipped with 10-year sealed batteries.
Homes built after 1988 that already have hardwired alarms or wireless integrated alarms are exempt from the new law.
Take a few minutes to check your smoke detectors and make a shopping list to replace old devices that have removable batteries.?

Radon is a gas that you cannot see, smell or taste--but it can be dangerous. It's the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States.
The only way to determine if your house has a safe amount of radon is to test.?The test is simple, quick, and inexpensive. The Kendall County Health Department is currently offering test kits for a fee of $7.00, which includes shipping and lab fees. Test kits may be picked up at the Kendall County Health Department.
