A Big Pharma lobbyist called Democrats’ efforts to lower prescription drug costs “a slippery slope” and said, “It’s up to Republicans to try and arrest the slide down that slope.”

House Republicans, who now control the Majority, are in the pocket of special-interest groups like Big Pharma. They’re going to do everything they can to block our efforts to make health care more affordable for everyday Americans. 

My late wife Emily lived with diabetes for 30 years and after seeing firsthand how much we had to spend on her medication, I knew something had to be done, John. 

That’s why last year we passed the Inflation Reduction Act and President Biden signed it into law, capping the cost of insulin and other prescription drugs for people on Medicare. 

We’re not stopping there, John -- we’re working to protect the Affordable Care Act and protections for pre-existing conditions, lower health premiums, and expand Medicaid into states like South Carolina to give millions more Americans access to affordable health care options.

We’re working to break the cycle of health inequities in our country. Republicans want to line the pockets of wealthy special interests.
