Democrat,
Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives just passed the so-called “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act” – another blatant attempt at appealing to the most extreme and destructive elements of the Republican base in the service of one goal: banning the right to an abortion nationwide.
This bill ignores the fact that the overwhelming majority of Americans are in favor of legal and safe abortion access, which we witnessed in action this past November when voters showed up in big numbers across the country to oppose anti-choice candidates and vote down GOP measures to ban abortion and reproductive healthcare access in over 24 states.
Women in America deserve to have their right to reproductive healthcare protected, which is why Governor Murphy and our Democratic legislators were adamant about codifying abortion rights into New Jersey law, and why we continue to advocate for further legislation that expands access to safe and affordable reproductive and abortion health care for anyone who needs it; and protects the healthcare providers that provide it. While our Democratic coalition in Congress voted NO on this ridiculous legislation, ALL New Jersey Republicans voted in favor of this bill. Make no mistake, if they could, Jeff Van Drew, Tom Kean, and Chris Smith would ban abortions for everyone, nationwide.
Show Jeff Van Drew, Tom Kean, and Chris Smith that New Jerseyans won’t stand for this by signing the petition now! [[link removed]]

On Wednesday, Governor Murphy launched his expanded Cover All Kids [[link removed]] initiative that allows children under the age of 19 whose families meet income eligibility requirements to obtain Medicaid coverage regardless of their immigration status.
Since the launch of Cover All Kids in 2021, more than 47,000 New Jersey children are now insured through NJ FamilyCare. This year’s expanded eligibility represents the start of Phase 2 of the campaign, which focuses on equitable access to health insurance coverage regardless of immigration status and is estimated to apply to an additional 16,000 children throughout New Jersey.
“Every child should have access to health care,” said Governor Murphy. [[link removed]] “By helping more children get NJ FamilyCare coverage regardless of their immigration status, we are working to make New Jersey a fairer, more affordable place for all to live. This expanded eligibility is an important step in my Administration’s ongoing efforts to ensure every child in our state has access to the quality health insurance coverage they deserve.”
I applaud Governor Murphy and his administration for their commitment to New Jersey’s future through investing in the health and safety of our children. Access to health care should not be determined by income, age, zip code, or status and I am hopeful that New Jersey will continue to lead the way in what compassionate and responsible care for our communities can look like.

According to new Census Bureau data released this week, over 10.5 million small businesses have been formed since 2021 [[link removed]] , the highest recorded amount during a two-year period on record, further proof that the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to tackle affordability and economic security are working.
Democratic legislative victories like the American Rescue Plan [[link removed]] , the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law [[link removed]] , the CHIPS and Science Act [[link removed]] and the Inflation Reduction Act [[link removed]] that make historic investments in infrastructure, manufacturing, and research and development, combined with strong job creation, low unemployment, and signs that inflation is slowing give us all reason to be optimistic about the direction of our economy.
“Rebuilding our infrastructure and supply chains here at home will help our small businesses strive for decades ahead,” said President Biden. [[link removed]] “My law to help crack down on big corporations who are cheating on their taxes will also help level the playing field for our small businesses, which is part of why it has been so disappointing to see House Republicans make protecting wealthy tax cheats their top legislative priority.”
