Help and Hope For Families in Malawi

Malawi is experiencing the worst food crisis seen in a decade. With more than 70 percent of the population living on less than $2 a day, families simply cannot afford or access the nutrition they need to survive.


Daniel’s mother longs to give him the best life possible. But she does not have the means to care for him and access the items he needs to survive and thrive.


Soon after he was born, Daniel began experiencing physical challenges. Now at 10 years old, he is unable to speak. He cannot walk or sit properly. Since he was a young child, he could only lay in bed and break into cries when he grew tired.


But thanks to generous Unto donors, everything has recently changed for him and his family.


“I am so excited for the support that you have brought to my family — beans, rice, and clothes. And am much more excited with the wheelchair that my son Daniel has received,” his mother shared.


Two years ago Daniel’s father passed away. His mother is now the family’s sole provider and caretaker. She struggles to make ends meet while also caring for her son.


When local staff team members brought the family meals, clothing, and a wheelchair for Daniel, she was overjoyed. “I don’t have much words to say only to God be the glory!” she said.


Today Daniel can go to school. He can leave the house and interact with other children. His mother can better care for her family. They have the food and clothing they need to survive.


Most of all their family and many others are hearing the message of eternal hope. As Unto staff teams and local pastors distributed the items to families, they had the opportunity to share about Jesus. More than 900 people heard the gospel, and 365 individuals responded to the message. Local pastors will continue to build relationships, follow up, and disciples those who made decisions of faith.
