John,

January 22nd marks 50 years since Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court case that legalized abortion, was decided.

And this year will go down in history as the first full year without Roe.

As thousands march for life today in Washington, D.C., we recognize the grievous legal mistake which legalized the mass slaughter of innocent, tiny people. We recognize the opportunity that now lies ahead to secure complete legal protection for future generations of our children.

It’s a sacred moment and a critical fight that lies ahead.

Roe v. Wade did irreparable damage over the last five decades. Since that fateful day in 1973, over 63.5 million children have been killed in the womb. This number—63.5 million—is roughly equivalent to the populations of California and Texas combined.

Although we celebrate the fact that abortion is no longer the law of the land federally, there’s a reason the March for Life is still happening today in our nation’s capital. The reality is, the work of the pro-life movement is needed now more than ever.

Abortion is legal and is even expanding in many states.

For decades, Roe v. Wade has tainted America with an acceptance of legalized murder.

Abortion has been hailed as a “woman’s right” or “empowerment”, but it has only made what should be the safest place in the world for a child (a mother’s womb) a war zone.

Abortion is still destroying the sacred bonds of love between mothers and fathers and their children, desecrating motherhood and fatherhood and fueling the mistreatment of women and their babies.

John, now is the time to fight harder than ever.

We must build on the momentum of what we have accomplished. We saw what many had believed was impossible—the overturning of Roe v. Wade—because of the hidden, faithful, loving acts of pro-life people like you over the last 50 years.

We must win hearts and minds now. We must continue to educate ourselves, speak the truth boldly, care for mothers and fathers in need, and demand justice.

We must remember and grieve the millions of lives already lost and let the devastation in the aftermath of Roe sink in. Then, we must channel today’s grief into tomorrow’s activism so that no more lives are lost.

As we grieve, we commit to take more responsibility for one another, to fiercely love those in need, and to give more generously so that no woman will ever consider abortion.

We must appeal to the conscience of every individual that killing an innocent human being is always wrong— and when more people step into these hidden, heroic acts of love for others, we will see abortion unthinkable in our nation.

Thank you for fighting with me.

May 2023 be even more pivotal in ending abortion.

For Life,

Lila Rose
