Johnson & Johnson has ended a significant drug trial on a vaccine that could have provided a cure for HIV. It’s a significant setback, but all hope is not lost — other potential vaccines are in the works. But this failure shows how difficult the task of developing such a vaccine is proving to be.

The USDA is getting serious about how manufacturers label “organic” foods. The first guidelines were published in 1990 and are in need of a refresh. The organization says the new rules will make it easier to trace a product’s origin and know whether it was produced under organic labeling guidelines.

Is fake meat a false promise for the environment? Not really —  the science still strongly suggests plant-based foods are less environmentally impactful than beef farming. That hasn’t stopped several news organizations from painting beef substitutes as a fad and not as great for the environment as people have said.
