Dear 350Brooklyn Friends and Allies,

Tomorrow, January 20 at 4 pm at the North East Corner of City Hall Park in Manhattan, we’re joining our NYC partner organizations NYCC, FFW, 350NYC, Sunrise, XR, and Fridays for Future for an action to honor Indigenous Climate Warrior Joye Braun by demanding that Biden Declare a Climate Emergency. This high-energy action will include art, music, and speeches from indigenous leaders and climate organizers across the city - and is in concert with 27 other People vs. Fossil Fuels/350.org actions taking place across the country!

Speakers will include:

  • Brynn Fuller-Becker, MC, 350Brooklyn/People vs. Fossil Fuels

  • Asna Kancu Ota Wi, Land Acknowledgement

  • Cheyenne Kancu Ota Wi, AICH

  • Somah Haaland, Pueblo Action Alliance

  • Josia Morgan, Amazon Labor Union

  • Steve Fox, Strategic Organizer for Climate & Environmental Justice, Office of Comptroller

  • Liat Olenick, Climate Families, Sunrise Project

  • Helen Mancini, Fridays for Future

Will you sign up to join us on Friday for our day of action?

Our movement has put pressure on President Biden to use his executive powers to stop fossil fuels — and two years ago, we celebrated a huge win when Biden pulled the plug on the Keystone XL pipeline. But since then, Biden has continued to ramp up drilling on public lands and waters when we need to bring the fossil fuel era to an end!

No one knew the impact of fossil fuels on communities - especially Indigenous communities - better than activist Joye Braun. Last year, our movement and our world lost Joye. Joye was a fierce defender of Indigenous sovereignty, human rights, and environmental and climate justice. She played an instrumental role in stopping KXL, fighting the Dakota Access Pipeline, elevating the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW), and more recently leading the campaign to pressure President Biden to stop fossil fuel projects and declare a climate emergency.

Please join us to honor Joye Braun by demanding that Biden Declare a Climate Emergency. RSVP at bit.ly/PVFFNYC
