Ohio’s governor Mike DeWine recently signed a new voter suppression bill into law -- one of the worst in the country -- making it harder for Ohioans to cast ballots by:
*
Imposing

Shortening

These new voting restrictions will disproportionately affect young, elderly, and Black voters and military servicemen and women in our state.
We should be making it easier -- not harder -- for people to vote.
That’s what I did as Ohio’s secretary of state. I worked to increase voter registration by setting up registration sites at high schools, food banks, and BMVs. I even convinced McDonald’s to print registration forms on tray liners so people could register while eating a Big Mac.
In the Senate, I’m still fighting to protect and expand voting rights. I support a measure that would secure federal voting protections to prevent voter suppression in Ohio and across our country.
But here’s the problem: Some lawmakers would rather protect their own political power than do the right thing for the Ohioans they're supposed to serve.
We need to speak out every time we witness these kinds of attacks on voting rights. Will you add your name and join the voices condemning voter suppression in Ohio and across the country? [[link removed]]
The new Ohio law is the first of its kind to be passed since the 2022 elections, and if previous years are an indication, we can expect even more voter suppression this year.
As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said: “Human progress never rolls in on the wheels of inevitability.” Progress rolls in because we make it happen. It requires people like you and me to stand up, speak out, and get involved.
That’s what our movement does best, and I’m hoping I can count on your engagement today. Add your name and join me in condemning voter suppression in Ohio and across the country. [[link removed]]
