Congratulations to the Georgia Bulldogs on becoming back-to-back National Champions! I thoroughly enjoyed watching my Alma Mater secure their fourth National Championship title after defeating the TCU Horned Frogs, 65-7, in last week’s College Football Playoff National Championship.

To recognize this outstanding victory, I proudly joined the Georgia House delegation, led by Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA), in introducing a resolution to honor the accomplishments of the UGA Dawgs. Additionally, I congratulated the team on their impressive back-to-back titles and undefeated season on the House floor. Please click the video below to watch my full remarks.

Last week, House Republicans embarked on our journey to deliver on our promises to the American people. Since the mainstream media failed to adequately and fairly cover our first legislative victories, I’d like to highlight them for you and briefly explain their importance: 

• Passed historic rules package: Two weeks ago, I proudly joined 19 of my fellow conservative members in fighting for transformational change in order to restore the People’s House. After hours of negotiations, we reached an agreement on a framework that significantly alters the rules that govern this great institution. I shared these items with you last week, which included the Jeffersonian Motion to Vacate the Chair and single subject bills. House Republicans officially passed this rules package — breaking Washington’s status quo by ensuring the House works for the People, not itself.
• Defunded Biden’s army of 87,000 IRS agents: As you know, Democrats’ so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” allocated $80 billion to supersize the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) with an additional 87,000 agents to target American families and small businesses. Speaker McCarthy promised that our first piece of legislation on the House floor would defund President Biden’s army of IRS agents — which is exactly what we accomplished last week. 
• Established a Select Committee on the CCP: House Republicans are determined to investigate and hold the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) accountable for their malign behavior. With this Select Committee, we will confront a range of China’s infamous actions, including the CCP’s acquisition of agricultural land in the United States, role in producing deadly fentanyl, and intellectual property theft.
• Established a Select Committee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government: It’s no secret that our alphabet agencies have been dangerously weaponized to disregard and destroy Americans’ precious freedoms. With this Select Committee, House Republicans will have the resources to uncover the two-tiered justice system rotting our Republic and provide transparency, answers, and accountability to Americans.
• Passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act: As an unapologetic defender of the precious unborn, I proudly voted for this bill to require medical care for babies who survive abortion procedures. Notably, only one Democrat voted for this life-saving legislation. 
• Adopted a Resolution to condemn the recent attacks on pro-life facilities, groups, and churches: Since the Dobbs decision, pro-abortion fanatics have viciously assaulted pro-life organizations across the country. House Republicans passed this resolution to forcefully condemn these actions — providing a stark contrast with the Biden Administration’s deafening silence. 
• Passed the Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China Act: This commonsense legislation prohibits the Biden Administration from selling our Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) oil to China. As you may know, President Biden has drained our SPR to historically low levels and sold barrels of this emergency oil to the Chinese Communist Party. Blocking the President from selling additional SPR supply strengthens both our energy and national security.

But folks, we’re just getting started. I look forward to working with my colleagues over the next two years to reduce federal spending, pass commonsense legislation, and hold the Biden Administration accountable. As we continue fighting to get our nation back on track, please know that under a House Republican majority, Americans will always be put first.
