On August 8th, 2022, the FBI raided President Trump’s private residence at Mar-a-Lago to search for classified documents — ransacking the former president’s office for hours and even rummaging through Melania Trump’s closet. This infamous and unprecedented move rightfully sparked outrage and undeniably illustrated the Department of Justice’s two-tiered system of justice.
Yet Democrats and liberal pundits quickly hailed the raid and denounced President Trump for possessing classified material. As you may recall, President Biden forcefully criticized his foe, describing Trump’s actions as “totally irresponsible.”
How the tables have turned.
Last week, we learned that back in November — less than a week before the midterm elections, President Biden’s attorneys found classified documents at his think tank in Washington, DC from his time as Vice President during the Obama Administration. As the White House dodged questions regarding the two-month-old secret, the situation only spiraled. Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel to investigate the matter after announcing that additional classified documents were found in the garage of President Biden’s Delaware home on December 20th. On Friday, just two days after the White House Press Secretary vowed the search for classified documents had been “completed,” more materials were found at the President’s private residence.
First and foremost, there is a major distinction between these two situations: Former President Trump had the authority to declassify documents. Then-Vice President Biden did not.
Furthermore, the Department of Justice’s handling of both cases solidifies the extent to which our government agencies have been weaponized and politicized against conservatives. As you may know, Robert Hur, the attorney AG Garland appointed as special counsel, is not only the former assistant of now-FBI Director Wray, but also one of Rod Rosenstein’s top aides charged with investigating the notorious Russia hoax. The raging hypocrisy and brazen bias engulfing the DOJ and the entire Biden Administration are on full display — and the American people deserve justice.
I can assure you that House Republicans are dedicated to fully investigating this troubling matter. Beyond the weaponization of the DOJ, we must carefully probe the Biden family’s shady foreign business dealings as they relate to these classified documents. Anonymous Chinese donors have poured millions of dollars into the think tank where the initial trove of documents was found. Moreover, the White House claims there are no visitor logs of President Biden’s Delaware home — meaning we have no way of knowing who had access to the residence and classified material.
There are certainly many threads to meticulously unravel, but we will uncover the truth behind President Biden’s mishandling of classified documents. Mark my words, accountability is coming.
