Six years ago, Suzan marched alongside hundreds of thousands of women at the Inaugural Women's March in Washington D.C. As a lifelong champion for the rights of women, Suzan was proud to stand with everyone raising their voices to fight for equality.
The Women's March was one of the largest, most impactful movements of this past decade. But Suzan knew her work was far from over. The next fight now is to increase access to reproductive health care and protect women's right to choose.
For the past fifty years, women had the freedom to make their own decisions about their health care, bodies, and futures. But now, the rights of millions are in the hands of many extreme, anti-choice lawmakers.
But it doesn't have to be this way. It is up to us to put people in power who will protect our reproductive freedom from extremists endorsing a national abortion ban. And if we elect progressive leaders like Suzan, we can ensure women can make decisions about their own bodies without interference.
Next week is also the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and with this being the first one since our reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy were nullified, we can't afford to lose focus in this fight.
The decision to overturn Roe didn't just affect our healthcare decisions, it also threatened the privacy of millions of people nationwide. Now that the SCOTUS has stripped away half a century of reproductive freedom, Republicans will stop at nothing to deprive people of access to safe and legal abortion.
Suzan refuses to sit back and let our freedoms be continuously attacked. As long as there are threats to the fundamental right of women to choose, she will continue to stand against those injustices for people everywhere.
