The Minnesota State Veterans Homes in both Fergus Falls and Luverne have been recognized as one of the ?Best Nursing Homes? for 2022-2023 according to U.S. News and World Report magazine. U.S. News evaluated over 15,000 nursing homes while completing their research. Only 16% of U.S. skilled nursing facilities earned the ?Best Nursing Home? designation this year.

Wellbeing is the theme of the Annual Report which highlights our priorities and accomplishments from the last year. MDVA is here to support and enhance all aspects of Veteran and family wellbeing, from providing safe housing to the homeless to mental health support to those in crisis, from financial aid to those struggling to healthcare to the aging.

The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (the Lifeline) is an easier to remember and easier to dial number to reach trained suicide prevention and crisis counselors, but it?s also a lot more. It now includes two more ways people can connect with the Lifeline ? through chatting or texting. In a moment of crisis or distress, Minnesotans now have the option to call, chat, or text the Lifeline.

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) is honored to receive a very generous donation of $80,000 from the Department of Minnesota Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Charles McLaughlin Post 906 in Hutchinson, MN. This donation specifically was provided to each individual State Veterans Home, which will receive $10,000 per location.
VFW Commander Dale Hoogeveen, VFW Charitable Gambling Manager Doug Johnson and Jerry Tews, Charles McLaughlin Post 906 member, presented the checks to MDVA senior leadership and Homes? public affairs, development and community engagement representatives at the VFW Midwinter Conference on January 13.

Ashley Bormann has been named Administrator for the Minnesota Veterans Home - Montevideo, which is scheduled to open in mid-2023.
Ashley has served as a Nursing Home Administrator since 2014. She brings experience with planning and opening new facilities to this role as well as a passion for ensuring the best quality of care and quality of life for Residents.
