John,
Today, the U.S. government will hit the limit on borrowing, also known as the debt ceiling — and the MAGA Republicans in control of the House of Representatives are still refusing to even discuss raising the debt limit unless Democrats agree to devastating cuts to Social Security and Medicare.
Friends, I cannot stress enough how dangerous this moment is.
A default on the debt would send the U.S. economy and global financial system into chaos, destroying millions of jobs. But the same insurrectionists who attacked our democracy on January 6 have now taken the economy hostage, and who knows how far they'll go.
The Treasury Department can use various accounting tricks to move money around and buy some time. But to save Social Security and stop the MAGA Republicans from driving the economy off a cliff, must begin mobilizing now.
We're creating a series of videos, graphics, and other social media content to educate the public about the debt ceiling and pressure non-MAGA Republicans to join with Democrats and stop this madness — but we need your help to get this emergency campaign off the ground.
Will you make a donation to help alert the public and stop Republicans from cutting Social Security and Medicare?

Thank you,

Dear John,
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen just announced that the federal government will hit the limit on total federal debt on January 19.
After that, the Treasury Department will be forced to take “extraordinary measures” to avoid defaulting on the debt, which would likely trigger a global financial crisis.
Congress could defuse this bomb by simply raising the debt limit, as it has dozens of times under presidents of both parties for decades. But the MAGA radicals now in control of the House of Representatives are refusing to raise the debt ceiling unless President Biden agrees to devastating cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and other key programs.
They are threatening to cause an economic catastrophe in order to force deeply damaging, and unpopular, cuts. We must act now to make sure Republicans don’t get away with it.
Inequality Media is creating a series of viral videos, social media graphics, and other content to sound the alarm and educate everyday Americans about the debt ceiling and what’s truly at stake.
Will you make a donation to help alert the public and stop Republicans from cutting Social Security and Medicare?
In order to mobilize the political pressure needed to protect Social Security and Medicare, we need to accomplish two things:
-
Educate the American people about the debt ceiling. The corporate media does an awful job explaining the debt ceiling. We need to make sure people understand that raising the debt ceiling doesn’t increase spending or the federal debt. It simply allows the government to pay bills it has already taken on — and defaulting on the debt would be catastrophic.
-
Mobilize people to take action before Republicans drive the economy off a cliff. We’ve seen how reckless and dangerous these MAGA Republicans are. We need to start putting pressure on Republicans — especially those who represent Biden districts — to join with Democrats to pass a clean debt ceiling increase before the likes of Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert, and Marjorie Taylor Greene drive the economy off a cliff.
That’s not an easy task, but this is a fight that Inequality Media was made for.
I co-founded Inequality Media to use the internet to bypass the corporate media and directly communicate with the public with videos and explainers that debunk lies and explain seemingly complex economic principles.
This battle over Social Security and the debt ceiling is exactly the kind of fight where we can have a significant impact. However, in order to run this effort at a large enough scale to win, we’re counting on supporters like you to chip in. Will you make a donation today?
Yes, I’ll donate to help get the truth out and stop the Republican attacks on Social Security and Medicare.
Thanks for all you do.
