During the 2022 midterm elections, we were incredibly proud to support pro-choice women candidates running up and down the ballot and nationwide. Many made HISTORY with their wins, and, in the process, beat their anti-choice opponents. It was an honor to help them get elected, and today, we wanted to share a quick update on what they’re accomplishing as officeholders:

We know you’re short on time. Can you rush 15 or whatever you can to help us support our next wave of endorsed candidates? →

Karen Bass – Mayor Bass had her inauguration on December 11th, making history as the first woman mayor of Los Angeles. She was sworn in by the country’s first female Vice President, Kamala Harris!

She immediately got to work rolling out the "Inside Safe Initiative" to combat homelessness in Los Angeles. This plan will house people currently living in tents and other encampments. She made headlines when she swiftly brought 100 people off of the streets and into housing. She also declared a state of emergency on homelessness, won support from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and ordered the city to speed up approval of affordable housing. Needless to say, Mayor Karen Bass is already hard at work to deliver on her campaign promises.

Rep. Ruwa Romman – Rep. Romman broke an important glass ceiling by being the first Muslim woman to hold a seat in the Georgia state house!

As of yesterday, she officially sits on the 11-member Georgia State Lawmakers AAPI Caucus which will be tackling issues like voter engagement, mental health funding, small business development, in-state college tuition for DACA students who are Georgia high school grads, and more.

Katrina Shankland – Rep. Shankland is celebrating her 10th year in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing District 71.

Rep. Shankland was officially sworn in and began her sixth term as the State Representative for Wisconsin’s 71st Assembly District on Jan. 3.

For the 2023-24 legislative session, Shankland will serve as the ranking member on the Assembly Committee on the Environment and the Assembly Committee on Workforce Development.

She will also serve as a member of the Assembly Committees on Sporting Heritage, Colleges and Universities, and Agriculture in addition to being an appointed member of the Governor’s Council on Workforce Investment and the Wisconsin Council on Forestry. We can’t wait to see what she accomplishes throughout this upcoming session!

Kathy Hochul – Yet another glass ceiling was shattered in New York as Governor Kathy Hochul was sworn in as the first woman elected Governor of New York! Most recently, she delivered a powerful State of the State address:

She has announced her plans to keep New Yorkers safe, fix New York’s mental health system, create new housing units, attack climate change, transform New York’s childcare system, and more.

These are just some of our incredible candidates who are already moving the nation forward, and this is just the beginning. Can you help us elect the next group of women trailblazers in 2023 and 2024 by pitching in $15 right now? [link removed]
