This week, we’re sending you a note
from Joel Searby, Forward’s Managing Director of Communities and
Building. In his role, Joel manages the team overseeing the
organization and empowerment of state parties and leaders. Joel joined
Forward from the Renew America Movement and holds the
*unofficial* distinction of losing the most independent
campaigns in modern U.S. history. We’re excited for him to share with
you his passion for building this movement.

John,
Building a
new, viable, credible, durable political party is something not seen
in our country in over a century. But beyond that, we’re trying to
create a new kind of political
party - one that is built in our
communities, not in the
backrooms of a DC consultant’s office; one that
celebrates diverse perspectives and doesn’t believe in rigid loyalty to the
party; one that champions a thriving
democracy that gives power
back to We the People, not a closed system designed to maintain the
status quo.
In short, what you and I are
looking to accomplish is truly transformative, John.
But how
do we do the work of actually building this movement? It’s a 50-state
effort powered by you. With your support, we’re:
-
Collect signatures to
gain party status in Colorado and Utah
-
Register voters in
Maine to gain party status
-
Holding Executive
Committee elections in
Florida and Texas
-
Host in-person state leadership strategy
sessions in South Carolina,
Maryland, and Illinois
Growing this movement and
building on this momentum takes a lot of time, energy, and resources.
We’re excited about the challenge, and we know you are, too. We’re
humbly asking for you to give to our movement in any way you
can.
Building
our party is a marathon, not a sprint. I know I speak for everyone at
Forward when I say we are grateful and humbled to have you with us for
the long haul. Together, we’re moving our country Forward.
Best,
Joel
Searby Managing Director, Communities and
Building
