Hey --

My life has been defined by service.

I love this country not only for the opportunity it has provided my family and so many others, but also the ideals that it stands for around the world: freedom, justice, equality.

As a former Army Ranger who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, these words hold a deep meaning after witnessing the struggle for fundamental rights in other places around the world. I have seen firsthand how important the rule of law is and how our democracy will only be protected if we fight for it.

We are a nation dedicated to equal justice under the law, and these values were the very reason I decided to run for Congress and once again fulfill my oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.

This oath guided my work in uniform, guides it through the halls of Congress, and will be my guide as I am once again called to serve my country and uphold that oath as an impeachment manager in the Senate impeachment trial.

No one is above the law, friend.

My job as an impeachment manager in the Senate trial will be to lay out the facts and the House's legal argument for removing the president from office. The president's lawyers will argue their opposing point, and the Senate will ultimately vote on whether to remove Trump from office.

I'm not a career politician. And I didn't come to Congress to impeach a president. All of this has weighed heavily on me since taking office -- but this is my duty, and I will fulfill it.

Protecting our democracy should be a top priority for any public servant, no matter your politics. The American people deserve a fair trial, nothing less, and I will work to ensure you get it.
