The Austrian Economics Research Conference is the international, interdisciplinary meeting of the Austrian school, bringing together leading scholars doing research in this vibrant and influential intellectual tradition. The conference is hosted by the Mises Institute at its campus in Auburn, Alabama, and is directed by Joseph Salerno, Academic Vice President of the Mises Institute and professor emeritus of economics at Pace University.

Submission deadlines for AERC 2023, the Lawrence W. Fertig Prize, O.P. Alford III Prize, Kenneth Garschina Graduate Student Essay Contest, and America's Great Depression: Lessons for Today Contest have been extended.
* AERC 2023, Deadline January 27 ([link removed]) : Papers should be well developed, but at a stage where they can still benefit from the group's discussion. Preference will be given to recent papers that have not been presented at major conferences. Papers that have already been published are not eligible. All topics related to Austrian economics, broadly conceived, and related social-science disciplines and business disciplines are appropriate. Submitted abstracts should demonstrate the paper's relevancy to Austrian economics and be limited to 250 words. Papers not adhering to these criteria will be rejected without further review.
* Lawrence W. Fertig Prize, Deadline January 27 ([link removed]) : $1,500 to the author who best advances economic science in the Austrian tradition.
* O.P. Alford III Prize, Deadline January 27 ([link removed]) : $1,500 to the author who best advances scholarship in the application of Austrian economic theory or libertarian theory to political, economic, or social issues.
* Kenneth Garschina Graduate Student Essay Contest, Deadline January 27 ([link removed]) : $2,500 to the graduate student with the best paper in Austrian economics or libertarian political economy. Applicants should submit a CV and robust abstract of approximately 500 words, and a completed academic research paper of 8,000 words or less (not a dissertation chapter). Submissions should be from current graduate students, not former or current professors. The winner must be present to accept the award.
* America’s Great Depression: Lessons for Today, Deadline February 10 ([link removed]) : Open to graduate and undergraduate students. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes of $2,500, $1,000 and $500, respectively, will be awarded, and the prize winners will be invited to present their papers at the conference. Essays should be 1,500-2,000 words in length and written with the aim of informing and persuading readers of the contemporary relevance of Rothbard’s book.
Winners of the Kenneth Garschina and America's Great Depression prizes will have their accommodations paid for and conference registration fee waived.
