Friend, the hypocrisy is at an all time high.
In the same week that Texans observed Martin Luther King Jr. Day, our state will once again officially recognize “Confederate Heroes’” Day. Yesterday, our Texas House Democrats rallied around a bill to abolish this racist and tired holiday.

In the year 2023, there’s no way in hell that there should be any praise for traitors that fought to uphold the slavery of Black people. And trust me, there will be Texas Republicans who honored MLK Day that will also acknowledge so-called “Confederate Heroes’” Day. It’s on all of us to hold these elected officials accountable.
If states like Louisiana and Arkansas can abolish this disgrace of a “holiday,” Texas sure can too.
Texas Democrats applaud State House Representative Jarvis Johnson, who yesterday filed the bill to get rid of this state holiday -- and we will do whatever it takes to finally get rid of this nonsensical celebration of racist Confederate traitors.
