On January 22nd, we honor the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, which made access to an abortion a federal right until the ultra-conservative SCOTUS dismantled 50 years of legal abortion protection last year.
Fortunately, Michigan voters turned out to vote to protect abortion access in Michigan. Not only did Michigan voters pass Proposal 3 to make abortion a constitutional right, but voters elected a Democratic trifecta in the state legislature.
Michigan Democrats aren’t wasting any time in Lansing. Bills have already been filed to repeal the archaic 1931 law that criminalizes abortion that many Republicans vowed to protect.
With abortion rights enshrined in the state constitution and this anti-abortion bill soon to be off the books, Michigan Democrats are proving they’re ready to fight to protect and expand reproductive freedom in Michigan.
We need to show these Michigan Democrats they have our full support and that the entire MDP is behind them.
