Dear John,

Today, the Fraser Institute released two new essays analyzing the governmental response to COVID.

The first argues that government lockdowns did little to reduce COVID deaths, yet imposed widespread economic and social costs – including an increase in deaths not directly linked to COVID.

According to estimates, lockdowns reduced COVID deaths by 3.2% — but they also discouraged people from getting regular medical checkups and preventative screenings, resulting in higher deaths rates from other illnesses.

According to data from the United States, if lockdowns reduced deaths by 3.2%, they saved 27,303 lives but helped cause 171,000 “excess deaths.”

The second essay further examines the behaviour of governments who enacted and enforced policies they knew were ineffective and/or misguided.

Read both essays on our website – the first one here [[link removed]] and the second one here [[link removed]] – and be sure to spread the news on social media.

Sincerely,

Niels Veldhuis
