We are excited to announce the Texas Historical Commission?s newest state historic site: Presidio La Bah?a!
This site in Goliad is a Spanish Colonial-era fort, established at this location in 1749. The original 18th-century chapel, largely intact today, remains an active church; other portions of the fort were restored in the 1960s. The presidio was the site of the Goliad Massacre in March 1836, one of the bloodiest chapters in Texas? revolution for independence from Mexico.
Texas Holocaust Remembrance Week was established by the Legislature in 2019 to acknowledge the Holocaust?s ongoing significance. There are four Holocaust museums in the state where you can learn more about this topic and reflect:

2022 recipient Dave?s: A Pawn Shop has been family-owned since the 1940s, when it started as a military surplus store. It is located in the oldest surviving commercial building in El Paso?the 1882 Montgomery Building.
