By now, you’ve probably heard about George Santos - the guy from New York who lied about basically everything in order to get elected to Congress. It’s genuinely embarrassing I now have to call him a colleague.

And yesterday we learned how far Kevin McCarthy was willing to defend him too. Not only did McCarthy let him get sworn in, he also announced yesterday he is giving Santos TWO committees to sit on.

That’s right - the con artist who lied about his business experience will now be overseeing small business and science and tech policy for our country. The irony is killing me.

But don't worry, Kevin McCarthy isn’t just stopping there. McCarthy has also vowed to kick off Democrats like Adam Schiff OFF their committees.

In what world is it okay for George Santos to oversee national policy on multiple committees but a patriot like Adam Schiff is totally banned from committee work? It’s mind-blowing to me. And genuinely bad for our country.

Let me be clear about the status of Congress right now: with Kevin McCarthy in power, con artists and extremists are literally running the House.

We cannot get complacent or throw up our hands. We have to fight for our democracy. We CAN make a difference, but we need to do it NOW.
