One
of the great challenges America faces is how to ensure that the economy benefits most workers. Over recent decades, workers have lost power and received a smaller share of economic growth as too many workers struggle to afford even basic living costs. Progressive mayors across varying regions and political geographies are responding to these challenges. They are advancing policies to raise pay, increase benefits, and build power for their residents through reforms that help to ensure municipal spending
creates good jobs; give workers excluded from federal bargaining laws a meaningful voice on the job; and create new worker-led systems for the delivery of essential benefits. These policies are making a difference in cities across the country and can provide a roadmap for future state and federal reforms.
Please
join us at the Center for American Progress Action Fund for a conversation with progressive mayors from cities that are serving as laboratories for pro-worker innovations. Mayors Jenny Durkan of Seattle, Washington and Levar Stoney of Richmond, Virginia, will discuss pathways for cities to raise standards and build power for working people.
