Friend,
Remember Eric Blankenstein? The guy who resigned in disgrace from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau after his history of racist and sexist blog posts came to light? Well, he’s back! He was just hired to work for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson in HUD’s Office of General Counsel.
It was bad enough that Trump’s CFPB kept Blankenstein employed for months after his racist writings were first reported, ironically to oversee the bureau’s anti-discrimination efforts. But Trump’s HUD has no excuse for hiring him after knowing full well what kind of character he has. This is a guy who actually claimed using the n-word doesn’t make someone racist.
This shows that racism isn’t just tolerated in this administration, it leads to new opportunities.
Maybe Blankenstein thought all he had to do was resign from one government job for the public to forget and forgive he spread hate online. Now we need to make sure HUD gets the message that we didn’t forget, and that Blankenstein must leave a whole lot faster than he did at the CFPB.
We’ve launched a petition to demand Blankenstein’s resignation from HUD because he has no business anywhere in the federal government. Right now we still need 50,000 more people to sign on -- will you add your name to demand Blankenstein’s resignation today?
SIGN THE PETITION
Thanks,
Allied Progress
