Dear Higb,
Today's State Senate hearing ([link removed]) regarding Justice Hector LaSalle and his anti-union record made one thing clear: it's more important than ever to support workers who organize here in Brooklyn and across the country.
That's why we're proud to announce the Brooklyn organizers of
Starbucks Workers United are our BYD Fundraiser ([link removed]) Labor Leaders of the Year!
[link removed]
New York has been at the center of Starbucks worker organizing from the beginning; the first such union was formed in Buffalo. In Brooklyn, the unionization fights in Caesar's Bay and Williamsburg were led almost entirely by young people ([link removed]) .
Organized labor is backbone of the Democratic Party, and BYD is proud to support young people who rally against corporate greed.
The good folks at Starbucks Workers United join Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso ([link removed]) and Council Member Chi Ossé ([link removed]) on the list of exciting honorees for our "We Are Young" fundraiser ([link removed]) on January 25th. We hope you'll join us at Crystal Lake to celebrate their work, and to continue the fight for a better, fairer Brooklyn.
